And it’s eager to attract and develop new business opportunities. New Mexico is second in the nation in proven natural gas reserves and production of natural gas as an export. We are fourth in the nation in proven oil reserves, and a net exporter of electricity.

The transportation system is extensive, comprehensive, and knows no congestion. Three interstate highways intersect the state. For rail travel, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe hauls 90% of all freight originating in New Mexico. Finally, there are 61 airports located near key cities and towns, offering scheduled passenger as well as cargo services. We offer a range of incentive programmes to companies looking to set up a base here. For example:

Invest New Mexico is a $1.2bn fund to back new, relocating or expanding companies that create high-wage jobs.
The Job Training Incentive Program can help pay for up to six months of an employee’s training.

Tap into a hotbed of advanced education, research, and cutting-edge technology through New Mexico’s 12 research institutions. These entities have a collective overall research budget totalling approximately $4.8bn. These institutions are at the leading edge of research in areas including nanotechnology, hydrogen energy, imaging and optics.
